Kyotmunga Walk Trail
The Kyotmunga walk trail is located adjacent to Kyotmunga
Estate (see map) and each year on the last Sunday in July, the
Kyotmunga walk takes place. The walk trail can be accessed via Yozzi Road (off
Chittering Valley Road) and parking is available. The trail leads
to the Avon Valley National Park, which contains an abundance of natural
flora and fauna. The trail has been temporarily closed prior to the
road being graded by the Shire of Chittering, but the trail will be
available for walkers early in 2007. The trail meanders through an
orange orchard (walkers please avoid damaging surrounding private
property) through to the Avon Valley National Park. Walkers can follow
the trail through the National Park for as long as they are able,
or they can continue on to finish at Peace Be Still on Chittering
Road. Wendy Gellard from Peace Be Still conducts guided walks on the
last Sunday of the month from May through September (contact 9571
8108).
Local accommodation
There is a range of accommodation available in the area for those
wanting to spend a longer stay in the Chittering Valley (www.chittering.iinet.net.au).
The Chittering Valley Wine Trail, which comprises a group of seven wineries from
Kyotmunga Estate in the southernmost part of the Chittering Valley
through Bindoon and west to Gingin is well worth considering (www.chitteringvalleywinetrail.com.au).

Further afield
Kyotmunga Estate is located on the Tourist Route 359 and visitors can continue their journey along Chittering Valley Road through to the historic town of Toodyay, either via Keating Road or along the Julimar Road, or alternatively on to the town of Bindoon. Picnic areas are available at Peace Be Still and at Blackboy Ridge and some of the local wineries also welcome visitors to use their facilities.
